DETAILS | NGC598, known, in the vernacular as the Pinwheel galaxy, is classed as a plain spiral but it does appear to have a very weak bar and two arms of classic BAR appearance. Gravitational influences due to the proximity of this galaxy to the Milky Way determine that the distance between our two galaxies is decreasing at a rate of about 180 Kms per second. |
